Personal Statement
My passion and enthusiasm for graphic design 
began during my formative academic years and has continued throughout my professional career to date. I constantly aim to improve my knowledge base, learn new skills and adapt to a continually changing environment in the graphic design industry.
I strive to produce work of a high standard that I can be proud to put my name to which is beneficial for all parties involved. My ultimate ambition is to work with demanding, yet well known clients to produce work which will have great visual impact on others lives.

Resumed Biography
Born on the 2nd of April, 1980, in Oporto, where he spend his childhood. However, he spent his adolescence in Braga and moved back to Oporto when he was 15, to enroll in the Graphic Arts course at the Escola Secundária de Ensino Artístico Soares do Reis.
In 2000 he attended the sculpture course at the Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto. In 2001 he changed to the Graphic Design and Publicity course, at the Escola Superior de Estudos Industriais e Gestão in Vila do Conde.
In 2002, he won the 1st prize along his partner Mariana Negrão at the "Uma estratégia de Comunicação para a região de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro".
In 2004 he won the 3rd prize at the "Ovarvídeo" for creating a poster to advertise the video festival in the city of Ovar.
In the same year, he studied for three months, under the Erasmus program, in Preston at the University Central of Lancashire (U.C.L.A.N.), in the graphic design course.
Later on, he took three professional internships at the Faculdade de engenharia da Universidade do Porto, in the portuguese famous newspaper "Público" and at the graphic design agency "XPTOdesign". In 2005, he earned his BA degree in graphic design and publicity with under the faculty ESEIG-IPP. In the same year til 2007, he had several jobs as graphic designer and newspaper designer.
Currently is living in Oporto and working as a freelancer.

PRIMEIRA MÃO Newspaper
July 2005 – January 2007 Head of Graphic department.
I was responsible for compiling and designing the newspaper together with supplementary magazines and press advertising. My duties also included being responsible for the fresh redesign of this newspaper along with the website contents management using backoffice.
XPTODESIGN Design studio
January2005 – March 2005 Placement
This opportunity was part of my university teaching program. During three months, I developed my knowledge about print techniques and how to prepare work for final printing. As part of my duties I designed posters, leaflets, brochures and corporate identities.
J.U.P. University Newspaper of Oporto
December 2004 – December 2005 Volunteer.
Head of graphic department I joined this academic newspaper in order to learnmoreabout editorial design within the journalistic and press environment. During this all year, I was responsible for designing amonthly newspaper and create their own advertising.
PÚBLICO Newspaper
July 2004 – October 2004 Placement.
I was given the opportunity to do an extra 3 months internship in the most prestigious daily newspaper in Portugal. During this placement I obtained new skills regarding editorial and press design. Through this placement I learnt how to work to tight deadlines and time manage with great efficiency providing me with invaluable experience for my future career.
F.E.U.P. Faculty of Engineering in the University of Oporto
October 2000 – December 2000 Placement
In this faculty I had the opportunity to create work and also learn the essentials of basic design softwareand its capabilities.
MISCELLANEOUS
1998-2007
During this period I worked from a very young age in a variety of roles, from a factory worker to a waiter serving at tables. I also worked in civil construction and as a volunteer in vaccinating children from poor backgrounds. This has helped develop my career through providing life experience and a greater understanding of other work sectors besides the design industry.

October 2004 National contest – 3rd prize Brief: To create a poster for a video and animation festival taking course in the city of Ovar. I received third prize competing against 256 other candidates.
